8-)Hi to All from Florida,
I am back in Florida for a few more days, it will be hard to leave here for the weather that you have in Illinois. I can't wait to get back and see my babies and all the babies in the rescue. They of course have the best of care from Roxy, Cindy and Lynn but I still miss them.

As soon as I get back , I am setting up a baby cam for viewing, for 1 hour once a week so everyone can watch Ruby Tuesday grow. I think this will be a great educational experience and can't wait.

Cindy

Hi to all as we embark on 2009, I assume everyone survived the holidays and packed them up for another year. So much to share, I did pass the exam for Avian Humane Investigator and am the first of what I hope will be many in the State of Illinois. I am in the process of seeking help from volunteers for mainting the website, updating it, helping in the shelter and so many jobs that one person can not do. If you have spare time and want to help in any way please email me.

If you look at birds in the rescue you will see the newest flock member, she is a month old today, female eclectus, her name is "Ruby Tuesday" and is an adorbably sweet little baby girl. Mom did not think so , as she decided she was done with her and she was in a very bad state when I picked her up but is eating well and gaining strength everyday. My days and nights are pretty busy now with a newborn but the rewards are many. I am thinking about setting up to have a web cam on her for an hour or two a week and let the amazing growing process be shared with all that are interested. You could see the amazing changes. watch her eat and all of the cool things that are seen by so few. If you would like this, e mail and let me know and we will put it together. I am going to start a "Baby Blog" so you can keep up too with the growing process. I hope this all sounds like fun to you, let me know/
Cindy

:)Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you and yours. As the year is nearing an end I thought it was an appropriate time to reflect. This has probably been one of the most difficult years in my life, but in turn one of the most rewarding. It has been a year that has rocked the foundation of the way I was raised and have lived my life, but I want to focus on the good and the wonderful things that have risen from the ruin.

Without all of the bad I would have never on my own started the bird rescue and it truly is the most personally rewarding things I have ever done. I have played a small part in finding, I believe forever homes for so many wonderful babies that would have not that option. I have had so much support from so many wonderful people that I couldn't even begin to thank all of them. I have learned so much and been given the opportunity to share it with other people who are eager to learn. The opportunity to help people understand the wonder and love that all of our feathered friends large and small can give is something that I enjoy so much.

I believe that I had wriiten that on Nov 20 I was taking an exam in Springfield to become the first "Avian Humane Investigator" in the state. I took the exam, and almost one month later finally found out that I did pass it. I hope that I am the first of many to follow tha will take the exam and give all of the birds stuck in horrible situations the hope for a better life. I am going to try to focus on the 6 counties surrounding us in central Illinois, but am willing to go anywhere in Illinois that would need me.

I truly have so much to be thankful for and hope all of you do to. I will try to write again soon.

Cindy

Hi to All,
Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving, we sure did. I just wanted to give a quick update to thosed who have not already heard. Yes indeed CC is finally exactly where she needs to be and that is in the pen in Texas. This will only mean anything to the old faithfulls but you all know what it means to me. I wish I could tell you she got natural life plus 20 but no such case in probably a year or so she will be in search of her next victims. I know one state she better not try to come back to because the long arms of the law will be waiting for here just like they were in Texas.

I hope this put a smile on a lot of faces and I will write soon.
Cindy

Hi everyone, first I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving from Terry and I and our flock. I thought I would give everyone a quick update on what has been going on since I posted last. I went to Springfield on Nov 20 and took the exam for humane investigator for the State of Illinois, I would be the first I hope of many to follow that took it stricktley for Birds. I think I passed, it was not an easy test by any stretch of the imagination but apparently it take about 1 month before you find out so I will let everyone know when I know. I cann't than Clay Foley, the humane investigator from the Champaign County Humane Society enough for all of the help and the ride to Springfield for the test. There is nothing better than all of the local orginizations working together for the same end.

This week has been very busy for me Monday I went to Linclon and picked up 2 amazons, 2 budgies and 3 thingyaties. Tuesday I went to Springfield and picked up "Feller" a 25 year old, wild caught timenah grey, and Wed. the shelter received a 6 year old quaker parrot. All the babies are wonderfully healthy and doing well and I will post their pictures soon on the website.

Terry and I will be going to Florida on the 3rd for 10 days, I will have my computer and my phone so if you need me just call. I have the shelter and my babies all arranged for while I am gone so I hope it is a restfull vacation.

Please keep Sharon Ackerman in your thoughts and prayers as she is having surgery next week for the removal of a implant gone bad in her jow. It will be a long, long recovery and then a new implant will have to be put in next yearl.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving to ALL

How great an idea, I am going to try that and make sure you tell us about somemore of the great toys you make out of things we would never think of. I love the mop head I have got to get to the dollare store and get some. We all know how expensive toys are and how much fun the babies have and let me tell you all this lady can make some fun toys.

Hello Every one,

Thinking about saving $$ but making your birdies very happy is by visiting the thrift stores or even the garage sales and getting all the belts you can, especially the leather ones, they come in all sorts of shapes and lengths. I use the leather belts for my medium and big birds, some of those belts come with designs like wholes all over, I hang through them all sorts of links, toys, rope, chains, etc. to make it more interesting.

The child size plastic belts, I use them for medium to small birdies (small amazons, conures, all the way down to the budgies). Again, I use the buckle to hung it from their cage and the wholes to add interesting toys. I have also seen the leather belts that come braided, my big birdies love them because they spend hours and hours trying to undue the braids, and once they are all undue, they play and chew on them.

When the big birds chew them and they still in a good size, I place them on the small cages for the small birdies, so you really get a very good use of them. At the end, the left overs (Bucles), I use them to string bells or place rolled magazines or newspapers. If you have any other idea, please share them with all of us.

Hi to All,

I first want to say to all that check for updates regularly, I am sorry that it is months between updates. Winter is here and hopefully I will have more time, ha that is a funny one!!!!

All is going well, and I still have so many things I want to do and am working on enlisting help to help me do it, so hopefully soon we can all join on the computer and make use of this wonderful world of technology.

Next week on Nov 20 I am going to Springfield to take the workshop and test for certification as a Humane Investigator. This would give me the ability to investigate birds that are said to be living in inhumane circumstances and do something about it. I am very excited about it and will update you later. I want to than Dr. Ken Welle for the wonderful letter of support that he gave me. Dr Ken and his staff are very supportive of our efforts and we give them all very special birdie kisses.

I was so honored to be submitted to WCIA news as an "Angel Among Us" and they aired the piece on Mon. Nov 11 and it was just amazing. I am far from an angel and you all know that but I was so thrilled for what it meant to the babies that are in the rescue in need of homes and the babies that are out there in need of a place to come to. I cannot thank Jennifer Roscoe and WCIA enough for what they have done to help all of the fids in need (feathered kids) for you newbies. I am working on downloading to the web page but if you want to see it before, go to illinoishomepage.net, angels among us and click on bird woman.

I will try to post again soon.

Cindy

Yes the baby has a new name "Miss Susannah" and she really likes it. She is doing better, but she has become very protective of Miss Scarlett and doesn't like anyone messing with her. They can't wait to see everyone at the meeting Sunday See ya then
